UTan by Ultimo

by admin on May 17, 2012

Michelle Mone, the founder of Ultimo has moved into the world of beauty and created her very own fake tan – ‘UTan’.

Not being happy with any products currently on the market and not wanting to just put her name to any old fake tan she took it upon herself to create her own tanning product. It has taken three years, one million pounds and a lot of hard work, but she has finally launched the product.

There are currently nine products in the range, from moisturisers, to gradual tans, to dark extended tans, meaning that there is something for everybody. It can be tricky to know which product is for if you haven’t used the brand before, you don’t want to end up too dark or too pale, however the UTan website overcomes this problem, by offering a simple 3 step online consultation, which shows you which tans they consider to be the most suitable for you.

The best thing about this product is that it isn’t just a tanning product, it also includes body sculpting technology, which is supposed to re-shape and re-sculpt the body. While we can’t say we’re 100% convinced that this will happen, we are more than willing to give it a go!

It comes with all the usual features you would expect from a tanning product, including a guide colour for easy application, as well as being streak-free and highly moisturising. The extended tans take a few hours to fully develop, so as usual, we would recommend applying before you go to bed, but don’t worry; this tan is transfer free, so even with white sheets there shouldn’t be any brown residue.

This product sounds too good to be true and we cannot wait to get our hands on it, and find out if it really is as good as it promises to be! As Ultimo is such a successful brand we’re sure that this will deliver.

The range of products is currently only available at selected retail outlets or online at http://www.ultimo.co.uk/shop/utan-348.

Fake Bake Flawless Review

by admin on May 17, 2012

I am like a kid in a candy store when I get a new fake tan, I just can’t wait to get home and try it out. Fake Bake Flawless was no exception; in fact I was particularly excited about this product as the reviews I had read prior to purchasing it had raved about it. Excited…Understatement!

Fake Bake originated in the USA in 1995 and came to the UK in 2001 and is still going strong today. It is used by celebrities and features in numerous magazines, therefore it is a brand which knows tanning and we can trust.

Fake Bake Flawless “promises to deliver a flawless, beautiful, golden tan” and for me that is exactly what it did.  There were a couple of things which I noticed instantly with this product; firstly I got a pair of gloves and a mitt in the box, amazing! I regularly change my glove, particularly if I’m trying a new product, so this was a really useful extra. It also smelt incredible, I still can’t put my finger on it, it’s a mixture of coconut and fruit, either way it’s lovely!

This product is a spray, something I was a little wary of as I am used to using, and love, mousse products, but I was willing to give it a go. Luckily, being a spray made no difference; it was really quick and easy to apply. I noted some people recommended spraying the mitt rather than your skin, however, I would go against this and say 100% spray your skin otherwise the mitt absorbs the product and you have to use a lot more tan. Just be careful not to spray your surroundings, as I now have a brown silhouette on my wall!

The tan has a guide colour which means you can see exactly where you have tanned, ensuring that you won’t have any white patches. I must admit I was reluctant to wash the tan off in the morning as I loved the colour that I had gone. I did however have a shower and I noted that unfortunately quite a lot of the colour washed off too however do not despair, after three applications I am now a really good colour. I think I was just getting a bit ahead of myself.

The tan dries instantly, which meant that I didn’t have to wait around for ages before putting clothes on. Another bonus was that there seemed to be a lot less colour transfer onto clothes than other tans have. I don’t use tanning products on my face, so I cannot comment on how well it goes on your face, but judging by my overall tan, I’m sure it is perfectly fine.

Admittedly I have only had the product a week so I can’t comment on the long term effects, or how well it comes off, however in the time I have had it I have developed a deep, natural looking all over tan, which I love.

I will keep you updated with how well the tan comes off and how regularly you need to apply to maintain a good colour. While I was building a colour I used it every night, and as I mentioned it took about three applications before I got a colour i was happy with (dark!), so it really is quick to get a deep colour, and even quicker if you want a natural glow.

Overall I cannot complement this product enough, it is fast drying, doesn’t transfer, smells amazing and gives a really good, even colour. I would definitely recommend Fake Bake Flawless and encourage you to try it out if you aren’t already addicted!

Let me know what you think…
